Very Good/No Dust Jacket As Issued. Stapled wraps; tan embossed with green titles and decoration; [16] pp. With 13 illustrations from photographs (10 are full-page, 1 is a double-page panorama). 12x18 cm (4.75 by 7 inches). Wraps slightly larger than pages.

No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal  handling; Hint of even age-toning.. Scarce promotional view book showcasing the esteemed hotel nestled in the heart of DeLand, Florida, strategically positioned between the vibrant cities of Orlando and Daytona Beach.

Originally erected in 1885 and gracefully standing until the 1940s, this iconic establishment, once graced by the visionary John B. Stetson, renowned for his legendary hat designs, underwent a transformation under his stewardship. Renamed as the Hotel College Arms in 1896, Stetson meticulously enhanced the property, culminating in the addition of a 18-hole championship golf course, honored as one of the nation's finest.

Within the pages of this rare view book lie treasures-a visual odyssey capturing the essence of the remarkable golf course and the spirited game itself. Adorned with six captivating photographs, including a breathtaking double-page panorama featuring the inaugural green, where the clubhouse and hotel stand as timeless sentinels in the backdrop.

This collectible gem, treasured for its historical significance, is a rare find, with only one copy identified by OCLC, residing at the University of South Florida.

1854 HUGE MAP Colton's Western Tourist Emigrant's Guide Americana California

J.H. Colton founded an American mapmaking company in the early 1830s which became an international leader in the map publishing industry until 1890. Colton created railroad maps, immigrant guides, elaborate atlases, and more all printed using engraved steel plates, which produced higher quality prints than maps made with less costly wax engravings, which were often separately hand water colored. and were recognized for their decorative borders.
J.H. Colton's 'Western Tourist and Emigrant's Guide'is an important 19th-century geographical book with an enormous folding map of the American 'west' including Ohio, Missouri, Indiana and Wisconsin. According to Howes, this work includes descriptions and material on California, Oregon, and Texas, with overland routes and westward expansion.

London: Bemrose & Sons , 1881. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 5.5" X 8.5. 39pp., A classic study on the origins of place names in the English county of Derbyshire. This copy has had a tough life, the spine strip is missing and both hinges are weak. The pages themselves are all soundly bound. The book includes some related ephemera, including a letter and several newspaper cuttings, mainly from the 1920s. (Includes the author's obituary). Some cuttings are stuck to the pages, but all text is still quite readable. There is the signature of a previous owner (William S Longbottom) at the top of the title page. William Longbottom was better known by his pen name of Horace Weir, the author of many works on the history of Derbyshire. Please note that this is a 19th century produced copy and not a modern reproduction. All orders processed and shipped promptly from the UK, usually within 24 hours.
