Title on spine in gold between raised bands. Fore edge soil. Matching marbleized endpapers. Two inch crack in hinge at lower edge of title page is soiled. Occasional foxing to text. One page has tape repair at lower corner. One illustration page is noticeably chipped at edges, creased and foxed. First American Edition, Second State, without the word "illustrated" on title page and with "published March 1902, R" on copyright page. Always carefully wrapped and shipped in cardboard boxes to protect your purchase.

Synopsis

The Hound of the Baskervilles is a crime novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Originally serialised in the Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound.
