First thus edition of Upfield’s first book, originally published in 1929. Introduced by Philip Jose Farmer. Fine, tight and unread book in Fine pictorial jacket. This is the first hardback published by McMillan in a printing of 1000 copies. A mystery by Upfield that predates the appearance of his famous, half-breed detective Napoleon Bonaparte. This copy has been signed by publisher Dennis McMillan on the title page.
