Younger and Hirsch pp. 91-93: First Printing Points: "Lists 14 titles 'up to now' on dust wrapper and lists 13 titles at the end of the book. No copy ever seen by us with a price higher than 250/250 that still lists only 14 titles leading to the conclusion that if a dw is price clipped but lists 14 titles 'up to now' and 13 titles at the end of the book, it is a first printing." Correct price of $2.00 for The Cat In The Hat on the rear panel of the dust jacket. Furthermore, the previous owner's inscription of "Christmas 1957" corroborates with the book's publication year. Hence, given the foregoing, even if the dust jacket of this copy is price clipped, it is the first edition.
