About This Item

Very Good with toning, soiling and rubbing through to edges. Shallow tidemark to base of rear board. Offsetting to title page and frontis illustration from tissue guard, pages toned with marginal marks in pencil throughout. A pioneering work of photojournalism documenting New York City's poor lower class living in squalid conditions at the turn of the century.
