Edited by Barry Miles. Quarto. Original brown cloth, titles to spine gilt, design to upper board in blind, beige endpapers. With the slipcase. Illustrations from photographs throughout. Some very faint marks to cloth, spine titles a little rubbed, excellent condition. First edition thus, signed limited issue, number 165 of 250 copies signed by Ginsberg, specially bound and slipcased. This is the first critical edition, and includes a facsimile of the hand-corrected original typescript. This copy has the ownership inscription of Winston Leyland (b.1940), a leading figure in American LGBT publishing who won the Stonewall Book Award in 1980. He established the Gay Sunshine Press in 1975, and his Gay Sunshine Journal (1970-82) was particularly influential for its interviews with prominent gay writers of the era, including Ginsberg himself.
