About This Item
New York: The Seabury Press, 1978. 1st English ed. . Black Cloth. Fine/VG-Fine. 15.5 Cms x 23 Cms. vi-281; signature of the late Dannie Abse to front endpaper and spotted one single-word pencilled marginalium by him plus two or three marginal lines, otherwise clean tight & unmarked in clean unworn covers; unclipped jacket clean and minimally worn - short nick and rubbing top spine now repaired internally with transparent tear-repair tape, hint of sun-fading to spine (will add protectivve sleeve when ordered). This book comprises a series of 'jottings' made by Canetti during period 1942-1972 (while he was working on his acclaimed book 'Crowds and Power'), a high proportion being short aphorisms. There is a slipped in 1985 Observer review by Stephen Spender of the later UK edition, presumably spotted by Abse. Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
