Century, London, 1992. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Very Good. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with dark red and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. An elderly Englishmen, Piers Carrington, lives in a Balkan city at the fall of communism. For 'The Socialist Dream' Piers has killed and betrayed everybody and everything, and now is looking at a bleak future; with the new order stripping away his meagre privileges. The author has ''... crafted a haunting, highly topical story of political and moral dissolution and and isolation.'' -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Ex libris plate of a previous owner  John Brunner  can be seen affixed to the front paste-down  please see photograph. Softening of the back strip edges with some rubbing to the lower book edges. A bump to the top front board edge with uniform tanning and scattered foxing to the text block edges. Age toning and some foxing to the pages. Erasure mark to the free front end page. A little creasing of the dustwrapper edges with rubbing of the panels. Fading to the back strip and the rear panel shows foxing spots as does the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
