London: George Allen & Unwin, 1960. 229pp., plus (i). B/white halftone plate frontispiece plus unpaginated like plates throughout (all called-for plates extant and attached). Book clean and square. Vivid silver title over minimally bumped spine, a small indentation on head of same. Plain blue boards undamaged. A noticeable tanned strip on ffep., a crudely obliterated (biro) name on same; textblock top edge tinted blue, leaves unmarked. Art-illustrated dustjacket edgeworn, with several short closed tears, a small puncture on spine, plus a small, round sticker ghost on front panel. In celebration of 100 years of District Nursing in the U.K., the author (a gifted writer and broadcaster with a special interest in women's suffrage, social work and the welfare state) Mary Danvers Stocks (Baroness Stocks) (b.1891 - d.1975) presents a thorough history of the wonderful organisation of district nurses in Britain . . .
