About This Item
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1959. First Edition. Near Fine/Near Fine. First edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's original red cloth and gray paper covered boards, spine stamped in gilt. Near Fine with light lean to binding, pages tanned and with a slight perfume odor. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with erased pencil overprice on front flap, light edge wear, light soiling with a few small scuffs and light rubbing. An unusually nice copy. The inspiration for the 1961 Robert Rossen film starring Paul Newman as "Fast Eddie" and Jackie Gleason as "Minnesota Fats.
