About This Item

Wellington, New Zealand: A.H. and A.W. Reed, 1956. Near fine.. First edition of the charming story of Kewpie-esque Pohutukawa flower fairies HUTU AND KAWA as they cheer up a lonely reptile. Tuatara are New Zealand's largest reptile, and are a unique species endemic to the islands. They are also the only surviving member of the order Sphenodontia, which could be why this title tuatara was so lonely. In the end, he finds a room to rent, and friends among the various flower fairies, Grandpa Kiwi, Mr. Morepork, Little Blue Penguin, Fanny Fantail, and other native species. 9.75'' x 7.25''. Original color pictorial card covers. Six full-page color illustrations with one color two-page spread and black-and-white illustrations to every page of text. [32] pages. Extremely mild toning to edges, with very subtle edgewear. Sharp and vibrant.
