Lasky, one of the founders of Paramount Pictures and a profoundly important figure in American film. 8.25'' x 5.5''. Original black cloth. In original unclipped ($4.50) illustrated dust jacket. Pictorial endpapers, fore-edge machine deckle. 284 pages. Inscribed by Lasky, in the year of publication, to half-title page: "Hon. James Douglas: / I am happy to autograph / this book, because it contains / a brief account of one of the / finest gentlemen in the Motion / Picture Industry - my good friend / Merian C. Cooper. / Sincerely / Jesse L. Lasky / H'wood Aug 12/57." "Pages 188-189." also written to half-title page in ink, in a different hand than Lasky's, noting the section on Merian C. Cooper referred to in the inscription. Jacket lighly rubbed at corners. Mild wear to cloth. A few instances of marginalia. Overall clean, sound.
