About This Item

London: Evans Brothers, 1954. [Drama] FIRST UK EDITION, PRODUCER'S COPY. Two volumes; one working copy, and one ring-bound 'Producer's Copy.' Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.94 [2]. With a black and white photographic frontispiece. Publisher's green paper covers with black titles to spine and front cover, priced at 5s. Producer's Copy ring-bound with black leatherette covers, gilt titles to upper, and a blank leaf between each leaf of text, intended for notes. Producer's Copy internally clean with only light wear to covers. Near fine. Working trade edition has neat pencil notes to most pages, with heavier wear to covers. Price scored out, with loss to head and tail of spine. Good. Adapted from Isherwood's novel 'Goodbye to Berlin,' this 1951 / 1952 Broadway play itself inspired both a film of the same name (1955), and the later hit musical 'Cabaret' (1966).
