About This Item
Paris: Olympia, 1957. Small 8vo, pp.219. Original bound green cloth boards, red endpapers, black paper labels printed in gold and white to spine and front panel. A near fine copy in a very good illustrated dustwrapper, some wear to leading edges and spine ends, a single very small (3mm) chip to rear panel and junction with spine. First edition of the author's first book. An anomalous inclusion on the Olympia list, I Hear Voices is a modernist take on the story of a mentally ill man, confined to bed, trying to make sense of his life; Olympia's subscribers will have searched in vain for the nymphomaniacs and dominatrices usually to be found in this imprint's output. Abelman went on to write for television: his later credits include Dixon Of Dock Green. Kearney:5.60.1.
