Surviving a pandemic First hardback edition, first printing, of this highly influential novel in the last man genre, following the sole survivor in a pandemic of vampires. It has been adapted into three feature-length films: The Last Man on Earth (1964), starring Vincent Price; The Omega Man (1971), starring Charlton Heston; and I Am Legend (2007), starring Will Smith. The book was awarded the Bram Stoker Vampire Novel of the Century award in 2012, marking the centenary of the death of the author of Dracula (1897). It first appeared in paperback in 1954. Octavo. Original white boards, spine lettered in black, top edge green, fore edge untrimmed. With dust jacket. Faint offsetting to free endpapers, contents clean. A near-fine copy in like dust jacket, front flap clipped but retaining price, mild toning to edges, sharp and bright. Bleiler, Supernatural Fiction 1126.

Synopsis

I Am Legend is a 1954 science fiction/horror novel by American writer Richard Matheson. It was influential in the development of the vampire genre as well as the zombie genre, in popularizing the concept of a worldwide apocalypse due to disease, and in exploring the notion of vampirism as a disease.
