About This Item

San Francisco: Parthenon Press, 1952. 176p., frontis-portrait of the subject, poem by Mrs. Springer, appreciation by George Harkness, introduction, illustrated with plates of b&w photos, generic inscription signed and dated May 6, 1952 by the author, very good first edition in maroon cloth boards and gilt, unclipped but edgeworn and rubbed dj. Biography of the author's mother a missionary to the Belgian Congo in 1891. If you look closely you might catch a glimpse of Marlow and Mistah Kurtz in the background of the pictures. Loving tribute to White Imperialist incursions into the heart of darkness or so they say.
