About This Item
Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society, 1998. First Edition(so Stated) . Hardcover. Very Good/None. This work has three editors, Leonard L. Blanton, Jessie E. Summers, and Carl Summers, Jr. It was published by the Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society as Publication Number 21 in 1998. The brown cloth covers have dark brown lettering on the front and the spine. Ben's narrative paints a vivid picture of the life of a young man in the rural south of the 1840s and 50s, and of a mature man experiencing the horrors of the American Civil War. Ben's book also details his participation in the great migration to Texas, a mass movement after the Civil War, in which thousands of Alabamians moved their familites west of the Mississippi. Further the work reveals in its author a number of unexpected attitudes for a man of his time and place. A very nice copy of a rather rare autobiographical work; available for immediate shipment carefully packed in a sturdy box!
