Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Co., 1958 288 pp. with 32 B&W plates. Stobart's travels as a footloose photographer have led him to Antarctica, the African jungles, Australia and the Himalayas. He joined with Sir Edmond Hillary and Tenzing Norgay for their memorable first ascent of Mt. Everest. His documentary of the climb, "The Conquest of Everest," is a moving tribute to man's courage and adventurous spirit. Text is tight, clean and unmarked save for a bookplate on the front endpaper and an owner's name on the flyleaf. The DJ is intact but pretty ragged, in a mylar jacket.. 1st Edition.. Hardcover. Good/Fair Minus.
