Hardcover. 1st Edition. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. 11 1/2" x 8 5/8", 218 pages, finely illustrated in colour and black and white, facsimile of manuscript letter from Sydney Cockerell to Major John S. Courtauld to endpapers. Published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name, held at the Fitzwilliam Museum. Brief guide to the exhibition enclosed, consisting of seven fanfold pages, printed on both sides. During Cockerell's long directorship, he transformed the Fitzwilliam Museum from a provincial gallery into a model for twentieth-century art institutions in Britain and abroad. Laminated boards, fractional loss of surface print at upper, inner edge of rear fixed endpaper where very small price-label has been removed, tiny bump to lower edge close to spine, otherwise as new. .
