About This Item

[LGBTQ pulp] Ann Bannon. I Am a Woman In Love With A Woman Must Society Reject Me?, First edition, soft cover pulp novels, 1959 Gold Medal Books. I Am a Woman In Love With A Woman was her second lesbian pulp fiction novel and the first with an openly gay title. Up till that time, Lesbian pulp fiction books usually showed suggestive art with obscure titles that hinted at what the subject matter was inside. The book also has the first endings in a work of lesbian fiction where none of the characters commit suicide, goes insane, is killed, or is left completely alone. Bannon wrote a total of six lesbian pulp fiction novels later known known as The Beebo Brinker Chronicles. In an interview in 2003, she admitted this was her favorite of the series. The book's enduring popularity and impact on lesbian identity has earned her the title "Queen of Lesbian Pulp Fiction". Most of her books, all paperback originals, were re-released decades later by the Cleis Press in their series of lesbian pulp fiction classics. Bright and in very good condition.
