About This Item
[LGBTQ ] - Ann Bannon . I Am a Woman In Love With A Woman. Gold Medal Books, 1959. First edition soft cover pulp novel with Ann Bannon's signature on title page. Front cover states: "I Am a Woman In Love With A Woman Must Society Reject Me?" This was her second lesbian pulp fiction novel and the first with an openly gay title. Up until that time, lesbian pulp fiction books usually showed suggestive art with obscure titles that hinted at what the subject matter was inside. The book also has the first endings in a work of lesbian fiction where none of the characters commit suicide, goes insane, or are abandoned or even killed. Bannon wrote a total of six lesbian pulp fiction novels later known known as The Beebo Brinker Chronicles. In an interview in 2003, she reluctantly admitted this was her favorite of the series. The book's enduring popularity and impact on lesbian identity has earned her the title "Queen of Lesbian Pulp Fiction". Most of her books, all paperback originals. In very good condition overall.
