About This Item

Light fading along top edge, else fine. Internally clean and unmarked. Pages crisp. Dust jacket illustrated by Eve Rockwell. Part of the time she collaborates with the detective, part of the time she is a chief suspect. Marion Strobel (1895-1966) was a novelist and poet. She was a life-long resident of Chicago and for 45 years was associated with Poetry magazine, including six years as associate editor. The jacket illustrator, Eve Rockwell (1904-1992), was born in Redlands, California, a musical child prodigy and a self taught artist. She painted murals for the 1939/40 Golden Gate world's fair in San Francisco, worked as a book illustrator and commercial artist, and moved to Boston in 1946. In 1953, she relocated to Lewston, Idaho, with her husband Theodore Little, an attorney known for his work representing the Nez Perce.
