Urbana: University of Illinois, 1979. Hardcover. Fine. First edition. Quarto. Red cloth gilt. One of 350 numbered copies Signed by Welty. Spine the slightest bit toned, else a fine copy. A portrait of a Mississippi midwife and shop owner originally published in 1942. Additionally this copy is Inscribed by Welty to George Bixby, who published Welty's essays *A Pageant of Birds* and *A Sweet Devouring* in his Albondocani Press series: "For George Bixby with my best wishes, Eudora Welty." A nice association.
