About This Item
Rohnert Park, California: Pomegranate Artbooks, 1994. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good +. An oversized work of 144 pages with black cloth covers and sharp gilt lettering on the spine. On the first page of the book is written the name "H. J. Buchanan, Jr." There is a light touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine. A few of the older maps reproduced in this book have survived in unique copies, uncolored and in poor condition. These have been photographically enhanced and colored in order to re-create something of their original impact. It is noticeable that the study of maps from the period after 1750 thins out dramatically; there is almost no literature on the scientific, thematic, navigational or polemical world maps of the 18th and 19th centuries, and there is no accessible account of the world maps from cultures outside of Europe in any era. Dust jacket has chipping and tears at the top and bottom of the spine and at corners. However, in its archival quality cover it looks quite presentable. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!
