Lipsiae [Leipzig]: typis Johannis Baueri. Sumptibus verò Christiani Gerlachii & Simonis Becksteinii, 1655. 4to. pp. 326 [ii]. Title printed in red and black, parallel Greek and Latin text, browned. Contemporary vellum with oval armorial stamp of Henrici (Henrik) ter Borch to covers. 19th century ink stamp to title and 18th century letterpress book label to pastedown of Uit de Bibliotheek van de Doopsgezinde Gemeente bij het Lam en den Toren te Amsterdam, the library of the Baptist Church at Amsterdam. Kaspar von Barths edition of the neoplatonist philosopher Aeneas of Gaza, the first in the original Greek (a Latin translation had appeared in Venice in 1513), first published in 1653 and reisssued with a new title page, as here, in 1655; Zacharias Scholasticus was a near contemporary, born near Gaza, noted as an ecclestiastical historian.
