Issued in conjunction with several 1995-1996 exhibitions that trace "the development of Salon landscapes and Impressionist landscapes from 1860 to 1890. The few pictures that the members of the Impressionist group produced for the Salon are included with the other Salon paintings, since they were designed to be seen on its densely hung walls." (intro) Spotlights 113 specific paintings, with double-page spreads and extended annotations. With essays by John House, Ann Dumas, Jane Mayo Roos, and James F. McMillan.
