About This Item
The sole printing published by Thacker & Co. ,Bombay in 1945. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Original green cloth with gilt titling to the front board. The book was issued in a variety of different cloth colours with no precedent. Mild splaying of the rear board. A contemporary penned inscription to the front pastedown. The book opens to the title page as issued. The 96 photo B/W plates are all present. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Mild loss at the spine ends and the corners. Light edge-wear with some small closed tears, nicks and a little creasing in places. Light spotting to the spine portion. Some old tape reinforcement to the spine ends and corners to the verso. The wrapper presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. This book was not published in the U.K. and is substantially different from Beaton's other title 'An Indian Album' (which was a much smaller format). Scarce. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
