The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. In pictorial DJ with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Presents John Yang's "Indian Ladder: A Lyric Journey". One of the most arresting contemporary interpretations of Classical landscape photography, one of photography's cornerstones. "Captures in amazing detail the beauty of the landscape around John Boyd Thacher State Park, especially along the Indian Ladder Trail. Yang's photographs are reminiscent of works by the great 19th-century landscape photographers Carleton E. Watkins and William Henry Jackson. His seductive prints lead the viewer on a visual hike along Indian Ladder Trail, opening the eyes to expansive scenery at one moment and drawing one inward at the next, into dark and mysterious chambers of layered rock. A quiet timelessness pervades his scenes. A lyric journey, filled with a sense of self-discovery" (Publisher's blurb) . An American photographer of Chinese descent, John Yang was trained in philosophy and was an accomplished architect before turning to photography. He and his work deserve to be better-known. John Yang died on September 28, 2009 at the relatively young age of 76. An absolute "must-have" title for John Yang collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black ink-pen on the half-title page by John Yang. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the First Edition/First Printing available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. 88 color plates. One of the finest American photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JOHN YANG TITLE IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 0939072165.
