Green cloth. A very fine copy with very lightly rubbed pictorial dust jacket. Excellent overview of this artist and his work. King was one of the most important artists of the 1821-1842 period, painting the portraits of more than one hundred prominent Indian leaders who were brought to Washington as guests of the government. Includes a checklist of extant Charles Bird King Indian portraits as well as a catalogue of the War Department Indian Gallery..

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by.
