Illustrated with 19 half-tone photographic plates, including six pages reproducing Watson's letter to Max Delbruck, telling of the Double Helix, and 11 diagrams within the text. A very bright, clean copy. Original dustwrapper with one small chip and a couple of small closed tears, otherwise a better than very good example. Overall a very good copy.

It's not ofter that you find two original volumes published / printed in 1726. Overall, these titles are in V Good condition and 100% legible ( albeit with Olde English spelling ) The titles are leather bound (spines and corners) with printed board covers.
A previous owner has pasted additional pages at the start of Volume 1 and pasted various newspaper clippings and hand written texts relevant to the themes of Mr Toland dated through the 1800's further enhancing the value of the set.
John Toland (30 November 1670 – 11 March 1722) was an Irish rationalist philosopher and freethinker, and occasional satirist, who wrote numerous books and pamphlets on political philosophy and philosophy of religion. Born in Ireland, he was educated at the universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leiden and and was influenced by the philosophy of John Locke.

Fore-edge and the first few pages affected by some very light foxing, otherwise a very good copy of this attractive edition. Publishers orange cloth with black lettering to the spine and front board. Small gilt stamped school badge to the front board. School prize label, dated 1942, on the front free endpaper. In the scarce original colour illustrated dustwrapper. A couple of small chips to the edge of the wrapper and the spine a bit toned but overall in very good condition.

Springfield: State Journal Steam Press, 1866. Hardcover. Small 4to. Modern green buckram. xvi, 504pp, iii. Frontispiece, Fine/very good. Modern binding is superb, clean and handsome; text block is clean and only ever-so-slightly age toned, with bit of soiling to preliminary leaves; there is the occasional spot of foxing, but the majority of the text block is as bright as the day it was published. A tight and unusually attractive first edition of this early study, the first of eight volumes published under Worthen's direction, with assistance from J.D. Whitney, Leo Lesquereux and Henry Engelmann. All called for foldout maps and plans (some partly colored) are present and mainly in superb condition, with only the two largest of them showing some edgewear and bearing expert archival strengthening. Worthen was a renowned if self-taught leading geographer of his day, and served as State Geologist from 1858 to 1875. All in all an exceptional, far above average copy.

Binding typically slightly soiled, else internally fine. A tight and attractive first edition. Limited to 160 copies. Wilkins studies the many genealogical tables used by Boccaccio in both manuscript and early printed versions of his "Genealogia deorum gentilium," a mythological encyclopedia. All captioned tissue guards present and pristine. A superb copy, with the original Caxton Club prospectus laid in.

London and New York : William Heinemann and Doubleday, Page & Co, 1929 A good copy in the original blue decorative cloth binding with 40 tipped-in colour plates and black and white illustrations and designs by Arthur Rackham. First published with Rackham illustrations in 1908, the work proved extremely popular and there were numerous reprints. The binding has nice bright boards. There is a very small mark on the front board. The spine is a little faded and marked. There is a little pulling to the spine and slight bumping to board corners. There is part of a wrapper for Midsummer Night's Dream loose inside the book but it looks slightly too small to have been the original wrapper for this book. There is a small ink inscription - Christmas 1935. To Peter with much love from Lorna' at the bottom of the fep.
