London: Marshall Japp and Company, 1880. Rare illustrated original 8vo size dark green clothbound hardcover with bright gilt titles on spine and cover and a bright gilt illustration on front cover; 372 pages with black and white illustrations. White background with tan flowers and leaves patterned endpapers. Contents include: Leather Wool Wool Sorters' Disease Beds A Piece of Porcelain Needles The Sewing Machine At Chatham In A Hop Garden India Rubbers Perfumes Gold and Silver Seals and Sealskins Photographs Clocks and Watches Locks and Safes The Post Office Small areas of discoloration to endpapers where pastedowns where reinforced underneath the endpapers at the time of production; penciled price on half title page; there is a small amount of dark foxing to outside pages and more on outside pages at bottom of book and frontispiece and title page. At pages 112/113 there is a split to the webbing and some discoloration at that interior seam which looks like adhesive residue and which also appears in other areas of the book; page 113 has a discoloration stain which does not obscure text. Two different small sections of pages 135-138 and 183-186 are detached and laid in. The bottom stitch for pages 194 -206 is broken (but two other stitches hold those pages to the binding.) Edgewear, bumped heel of spine, top of spine is bumped and chipped and there is a 1.25 inch tear to the top of the spine seam.
