About This Item
New York: Burt Franklin, 1963. Reprint of Hazlitt's 1868 edition of these three sixteenth/seventeenth century books on gentility & social status: Cyuile and uncyuile life. A discourse very profitable, pleasant, and fit to bee read of all Nobilitie and Gentlemen. London, 1579 [though Hazlitt uses the text of the 1586 version, titled The English Courtier, and the Cutry-gentleman], a dialogue debating the virtues of country versus city life; A Health to the Gentlemanly profession of Seruingmen: or, The Seruingmans Comfort: With other thinges not impertinent to the Premisses, ass well pleasant as profitable to the courteous reader. London, 1598, on the flourishing & decline of mettlesome servants, I think; and The Court and Country, or, a Briefe Discourse betweene the Courtier and Country-man; of the Manner, Nature, and Condition of their liues. Franklin's Research & Source Works Series #49; undated, but OCLC says 1963. Hardcover, as pictured.
