Stipple etching depicting a fictional scene of Shakespeare as an infant surrounded by Nature and the Passions. Hinge matted to cream mat board. Caption reads: "Nature in represented with her face unveiled to her favorite child, who is placed between Joy and Sorrow. On the right hand of Nature, are Love, Hatred, & Jealousy: on her left hand, Anger, Envy, & Fear." Also has "Shakespeare" lightly printed at the top of the print in the opening in the sky where light is pouring through. Toning to top and bottom edge. Puncture to bottom right edge of printed area (see image). Mat: 32 x 26 inches; Window: 25.5 x 19.5 inches.
