About This Item
New York: Inherit the Wind, 1955. First Edition Thus, First Printing, so stated. Signed and inscribed by the author Robert E. Lee and additionally signed by Jerome Lawrence on the front free endpaper. Lee’s inscription reads in full: “For Marion and Bill Dentzel, May your own legal cases be as famous as this - so we can turn them into better plays! With warmest good wishes, Bob Lee, Christmases 1957 & 1958!”. Jerome Lawrence’s signature is just to the left of Lee’s. Illustrated with scenes from the 1955 Broadway production starring Ed Begley, Tony Randall, Charles Thompson, and Karl Light. Very good plus copy with some minor edge wear and handling and a trace of fading to the cloth at the spine in a lightly handled dust jacket with some darkening, mostly to the spine, a few small chips and a 1 1/8” tear to the top of the front panel. The basis of the acclaimed motion picture produced and directed by Stanley Kramer starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, Gene Kelly, Dick York, Donna Anderson, and Harry Morgan.
