About This Item

London; Richard Bentley, 1860., 1860. Hardcover. FIRST EDITION. Octavo. 155 pp. Frontispiece showing Facsimiles of Collier's pen and pencil corrections to the 1632 text plus two further facsimiles, one of which is double-page. Original blind-stamped red cloth with gilt titles. Cover cloth a little discoloured and showing wear to extremities, with small split across head of spine. Inner front hinge tender but holding, endpapers lightly soiled. Overall a very good copy. An important work in the history of Shakespeare - the Author spotted that Collier's notes in the Perkins Folio were fraudulent and exposed his deception to the public. Scarce.
