Facsimile of the 1493 Basil edition of the Latin translation of Columbus' 1493 letter to the Spanish court of Ferdinand and Isabella announcing the discovery of the "isles of the Indies." Together with a facsimile of the first German translation of the letter published in Strasborg by Bartolomeus Kistler. Bookplate of Robert Ormes Dougan (1905-1999). Dougan was head librarian of the Huntington Library from 1958-1972. Limited edtion of 300 numbered copies, this #147.
