This is a great textbook for my first GIS class! It is well written, easy to understand, and the author gives good examples. The textbook also just happens to list examples when working with GIS software, and it uses ArcGIS by ESRI as an example (the book was not written or published by ESRI). ArcGIS is the program that we are using in my class!
