About This Item

Sir Isaac Pitman. London: Sir Isaac Pitman (1924). First edition. 8vo., Dark blue cloth boards, lettering to the spine; pp. [xi] 112 +[24]; A very good copy without the dust wrapper. The spine is dulled and the lettering without gilt. The corners have been pushed with some edgewear and the odd mark to the boards. The first and last couple of pages with light browning.  John Ambrose Fleming here explains how wireless telegraphy and telephony works. He writes in the preface that it is for the general reader to possess a brief sketch of the general principles. Fleming invented both the radio transmitter and the vacuum tube that was a key component of radio receivers and radar for many years.  . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1924.
