In Very Good Condition: as is usual with green calf, the spine is faded to brown; front board has been sensitively reattached by a conservator; older archival repair to gutter between half title and frontispiece; occasional minimal foxing along fore-edges; clean and tight.

One volume only from the 8-volume series of guidebooks to the Enchuro School of ikebana or flower arrangement first published in Tokyo in 1807. 8 pages of text and 52 pages of woodcuts of ikebana featuring flowers in vases on tables, in hanging baskets, etc. Condition: Washi paper covers worn and fragile, binding resewn, the delicate woodcuts on thin washi paper mostly clean and bright. Ikebana was a very popular leisure activity in the Edo Era. The Enchuro-Ryu was a new school of ikebana that emerged in the early 19th century alongside the Senke-shinryu, Ko-ryu, Enshu-ryu, Yoken-ryu, Doku-ryu, Shofu-ryu, and many others to challenge the established Genji, Ikenobo and Senke schools.

This Book describes the early life of Norman Rockwell, and his rise as the most famous American illustrator of art, magazine covers, and drawings. The Book contains photographs of many of his works. The Book has blue cloth covers with a gold lettered title. The Dust jacket for this Book is made on matching blue cardboard with four seasonal illustrations. The Saalfield Publishing Co, 1909. Hardcover. Acceptable. Edith A. Root's early-century, over-sized "dollhouse" book with illustrations (furniture, etc.) that can be cut out and mounted in any of nine different rooms. Full-color lithographs comprise an entire house. Root deliberately limited the number of illustrations so that the house could be customized and furnished with illustrations cut out from magazines and other sources. Rare. No copies appear in WorldCat library database at the time of this posting. 30 pp. 15 5/8" x 10". Tight copy with considerable shelf wear. Corners bumped and worn through, as are about half the edges. Hinges pulled away from backing somewhat, not affecting binding integrity. First two leaves show evidence of having been detached and competently reattached. Two small crayon markings noted.
