About This Item
London: Chapman and Hall, 1844. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo, pp. iv, 248, 100, 208, original blind stamped black cloth, gilt lettering to spine, this dulled and a little worn, spine rubbed and the top pulled, corners bumped, interior with owner's signature to ffep, first and last few pages foxed, otherwise largely clean, some pages were obviously uncut and have been opened without care, the binding a little shaky but a lot of life in it yet, top edge dust-dulled. A fascinating pre-famine visitor's commentary on Ireland, including some prescient comments on the starving Irish producing food for peoples of other nations. Scarce.
