Hardback octavo, dustjacket, good plus condition (in good plus dustjacket), cloth spine, edges foxed, some edge tears jacket (top edge reverse side foxed, front flap clipped). 215 pp. Father Andrew Greeley, University of Chicago, draws on his personal experience and extensive sociological research to demonstrate that most myths about an Irish Americans underclass are untrue, and that many (despite retaining a distinctive culture) have been highly successful in politics and business. He cites the experiences of Mickey Rooney, James T. Farrell, the Kennedys, Grace Kelly, Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Flannery O'Connor as examples.
