This part contains a number of lively exploits and a great description of deep sea fishing, one of Hemmingways? particular interests. The second ?Act? takes place in war-time Cube where Hudson is involved in secret anti-submarine activities. His dialogue with local personalities displays Hemingways adroit and humorous characterisations. The final stage of the novel takes place a short while after aboard Hudson?s improvised Q-boat as he hunts down the survivors of a German submarine and contains some of the author?s finest action scenes..* A VERY GOOD copy of the First UK edition with some ageing and shelf wear.*
