Image measures 6 1/2" x 7 3/4".

This beautiful map of Southeast Asia includes the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java and Borneo. Careful attention has been paid to the coastlines of the various regions, with place names artfully arranged to maximize both visual appeal and legibility. Pictorial mountains and forests dispersed amongst place names describe the hilly terrain owing to the volcanic genesis. Small islands and coastal features are also meticulously rendered. The map is in good condition. Minor fading near bottom border. Original platemark. Dark impression.

Robert de Vaugondy (1688-1766) was an important French mapmaker during the 18th century.
