About This Item

New York, NY: Oxford University Press. Very Good+ in Very Good- dust jacket. 1948. 1st Edition Thus; 1st Printing. Hardcover. Color Illustrations; This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good- dust jacket. Green / teal cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine and front cover of the book (denoting a 1st issue - the second issue has black lettering to the spine and front cover of the book). The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping and the gilt lettering is a bit dull, but not rubbed. The text pages are clean and bright. Illustrated throughout with black and white illustrations along with four full color plates and a full color title page by Tasha Tudor. The dust jacket has some generalized toning / sunning, especially to the spine, along with several small to smallish edge tears and nicks. All four corners of the dust jacket have been clipped, but not price clipped as the two dollar price is still printed on the bottom front flap corner. "Tasha Tudor illustrated nearly one hundred books, the last being Corgiville Christmas, released in 2003. Several were collaborative works with a New Hampshire friend Mary Mason Campbell. She also collaborated in 1957 with Nell Dorr to produce the 24-minute 16mm film The Golden Key: Enter the Fantasy World of Tasha Tudor. Tudor lived in Marlboro, Vermont, in a house copied from that of other New Hampshire friends Donn & Doris Purvis. Her son Seth built the replication and lives next door with his family. It is documented in Drawn from New England, and in The Private World of Tasha Tudor. Mother and son worked closely on family endeavors. " (from Wikipedia) .
