With black-and-white illustrations throughout. Bound in taupe cloth with green lettering stamped on front board, green lettering on spine. Slight age-toning to cloth. In the dust jacket separated along front panel-front flap fold. Dust jacket illustration by David Hendrickson. Subtitle on dust jacket: "Memories of Cheese and Cider Days on an American Farm." First edition, review copy with the signature of Los Angeles Times critic Paul Jordan Smith. Dust jacket illustrator David Hendrickson, San Francisco painter, studied under Dean Cornwell. "Jake Falstaff" was the pen name of Herman Fetzer (1899-1935), the novelist, poet and newspaper columnist. Dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.
