J. Burrow & Co. Ltd., 1938, London. Only one additional copy in this signed state available on-line. From the publisher's blurb on front flap inside: "Jamaica, the oldest and most beautiful of our tropical colonies, was the great stronghold of British slavery; on her shores Christianity and the slave system met in mortal combat. The stirring story of Jamaican emancipation is told in this volume, which closes with a description of the Island today . . . " In point of fact, a self-backpatting from a former representative of the former slave state-colony akin to Christian back-patters regardig Abolition in the U.S. It's not as if equality then began to reign. Bound handsomely in blue cloth, gilt lettering and illustration at front cover and lettering to spine, still sharp. Bumping to spine head and foot, moderate rubbing to extremities. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, moderately worn and with a chip missing at spine head, protected by a plastic coat. Preface by the Rt. Hon. Ord Olivier, facsimile at end thereof, 86 pp., with full bibliography and a final black-and-white engraving, the 18th of the entire book .Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
