Original pebbled maroon cloth, gilt spine title, front board with embossed portrait and title gilt. Moderate shelf wear, interior clean. Very good. This is the "special definitive edition" of the 1924 original, an expanded edition printed in a limited run of 1,000 copies signed by Alter. Bridger was a famous trapper and wilderness scout throughout much of the 19th century, and became owner of the Rocky Mountain Fur Company when he and his associates bought it from Jedediah Smith in 1830.
