Dustwrapper edgeworn, and sunned on spine panel, with earlier owner's tape repair at tail; trace of wear to extremities of backstrip; earlier owner's name signed on flyleaf; some foxing to endpapers. Good condition. "This is the story of the remarkable and courageous career of Jan Hendrik Hofmeyr, the great South African Liberal, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mines and Education in the Union Government. He is (says the author) the heir to General Smuts for the Premiership, and points out that there is no other politician on the South African horizon of the calibre of Hofmeyr to lead the country when the Smuts epoch ends." .
