About This Item
London: Oxford at the Clarendon Press, 1955. Hardcover. VG+. 2nd edition, 12mo, navy cloth, 62 pages. VERY GOOD+ / no jacket: slight wear, a lovely copy of this important Chapman work [ Gilson ]. Chapman writes in his preface that "this compilation is addressed to Austenians in general rather than the fastidious collector, who is already provided for, on a grand scale, by Dr. Geoffrey Keynes's "Bibliography" of 1929...I have included all the editions of the novels before 1890" and he includes the criticism and exegesis of this century that "seem to deserve record;" "a few corrections have been made in this second edition and the Addenda has been enlarged." According to Gilson M856, 1000 copies were printed, reprinted lithographically from corrected sheets of the 1st edition.
