About This Item

Boston:: Little, Brown & Company, 1967.. Book Club Edition.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: blue binding; the top edge tint is light red; the spine is slightly slanted, otherwise a Very Good book, with a Very Good dust jacket.. 8vo (8.5 inches tall) . Description: Panoramic dust jacket design by Keith Shackleton. Nort Clay was a millionaire. Suave and charming -- and quite mad -- a fact unknown to even his best friend. Every room in Nort's house was bugged. Ben Powers, besides being Nort Clay's best friend, was a washed up television writer with a marriage on the rocks. He made the mistake of inviting Penny Savodi for a weekend at Nort Clay's Long Island estate. Nort had a grand scheme. He was convinced several gold cannons were sunk off the coast of Janus Island during the seventeenth century, and had an elaborate salvage plan that he wanted to keep secret by masking it as a documentary film. He wanted Ben to write and direct the film. For Ben, the offer was too good to resist, but he began to wonder about his friend's mental stability. Rear gutter code ''41 I'' indicates a printing date of October, 1967.
